That’s why we’ve developed a foundational Personal Watercraft course to equip individuals with the essential knowledge, preparation, and hands-on skills required for safe operation.

 

Whether you’re a recreational rider looking to improve your jetski handling or a professional seeking advanced rescue techniques, our comprehensive training covers everything from safe riding practices and situational awareness to emergency response and open water rescues.

 

For those looking to expand their qualifications, we offer nationally recognised first aid and rescue qualifications, ensuring you are fully prepared for real-world scenarios on the water.

FOUNDATION/BASIC PERSONAL WATERCRAFT (PWC) COURSE

Designed for new, seasonal, or recreational jetski operators, this course builds foundational skills in safe riding and operational awareness. Whether you’re a first-time rider or looking to enhance your confidence on the water, this training provides essential knowledge and hands-on practice to navigate various conditions safely.

Course Components:

• Safe riding techniques and operational control

• Situational awareness and hazard identification

• Emergency assistance and response

• Basic first aid and injury management

• Introduction to rescue techniques

• Operating in open water environments

RESCUE WATERCRAFT (RWC) COURSE

This advanced-level course is tailored for professionals, emergency responders, and those involved in aquatic rescue operations. Focused on high-level skills and real-world scenarios, this course equips participants with the knowledge and expertise to execute safe and effective water rescues.

Course Components:

• Advanced watercraft handling and control

• Situational and emergency awareness in high-risk environments

• Complex rescue techniques, including rough water and dynamic conditions

• First aid and advanced patient care in water rescue situations

• Spinal management care and immobilization techniques

• Recovery and post-rescue procedures

• Operating in open water and surf environments

INTEGRATED NATIONAL UNITS OF COMPOTENCY

Both the Foundation/Basic Personal Watercraft and Rescue Watercraft Course contain national units of competency. Please refer to the 'Unit Delivery' for further information. 

The following units can be included as part of the training:

• HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

 • HLTAID010 - Provide basic emergency life support

• HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

• SISCAQU029 – Perform Open Water Rescues

 

Other nationally recognised units of competency can also be delivered.

The course will cover various aspects of rescue situations and determine appropriate rescue actions, communicate effectively, and use a range of equipment and techniques to conduct complex open water rescues efficiently. Complex water rescues involve multiple people in distress, individuals suffering from medical events while in the water including suspected spinal injuries, injured persons, navigating through various hazards, or a combination of many factors.

The Surf Park Lifeguard Training Program is a specialised training module specific to surf parks and wave machines. The program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to ensure the safety and well-being of users consisting of surfers, swimmers and other watercraft users. Learning content includes surf awareness skills, wave controls, supervision methods, aquatic rescue techniques, preventive measures, emergency response, first aid, logistics and operations.

In this CPR course, you will learn these skills, in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, including using an automated external defibrillator (AED), how to rotate first aiders with minimal interruptions to compressions, and what to do if the casualty regurgitates or vomits.

The Aquatic Amusement Lifeguard Training Program offers further training modules specific to aquatic based theme/amusement parks. The program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to ensure the safety of visitors capturing wave pools, water slides, lazy rivers, wave machines, inflatable obstacles, and other water-based amusements. Learning content includes supervision methods, aquatic rescue techniques, preventive measures, emergency response, first aid and amusement/ride operations.

This course provides practical simulated real-life situations to learn and gain the confidence to coordinate and manage a response and provide advanced first aid in line with legal, community and workplace considerations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other Australian national peak clinical bodies until emergency services arrive.

The Aquatic Attraction Training Program (AATP) is suited for shallow water or aquatic based amusement/devices/rides such as splash playgrounds/pads, water coasters etc. The program equips staff to monitor the general safety of others and take proactive measures to reduce risk where lifeguard skills may not be appropriate. Learning content includes health and safety, preventive measures, crowd control, risk management, communication and ride/device operator awareness.

The course provides simulated real-life scenarios for a set of skills to provide advanced first aid, oxygen therapy, advanced resuscitation, ongoing monitoring and care after treatment, handover of the casualty to emergency services and incident debriefing or evaluation to improve future operations, address individual needs recognising psychological impacts and seeking help as required.

This course will teach participants the skills and knowledge needed to complete a hazard analysis, specify risk controls to bring risks to ALARP, identify relevant personnel, complete appropriate hazard analysis forms (paper or electronic), monitor and review effectiveness of risk controls.

Participants will also learn the significance of the analysis context, how the identified hazards may cause harm and the purpose and use of the risk matrix.

In this course individuals who may be required to provide emergency care to a casualty with suspected spinal injury. It includes recognition and management of a suspected spinal injury, immobilising cervical spine using manual in-line stabilisation (MILS) techniques as well as spinal equipment, evaluating the need to move a casualty, preparing a casualty for transport, transporting and monitoring.

This course will also equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to advise on appropriate emergency planning, making them familiar with all aspects of building fire safety on day-to-day matters and during facility emergencies. The course has been developed to cover a broad range of emergencies and facilities as considered in Australian Standard 3745 and Australian Standard 4083.
